Koflet Lozenges

No one likes to feel under the weather, but when it happens it's important to have your go to remedies on hand so you can feel better and get back to normal.  Koflet Lozenges by Himalaya Herbal Healthcare definitely helps me to accomplish this.

I really love Himalaya products --they are based on Indian Ayurvedic Herbs. The company has a number of herbal supplements/ including single herbs and adaptogenic blends to address everything from combating stress to supporting liver health. They also have a range of body care products (skin, teeth, and hair).

Koflets are a natural herbal cough drop and they actually work very well. The moment you stick one of these into your mouth you literally stop coughing (they are also soothing for sore throats). I love that Koflets use natural herbal ingredients and don't include many of the nasty ingredients that you find in regular cough drops such as artificial colors, artificial flavors, and other chemicals. They do have a peppery..gingerish taste which I don't mind.

Koflet ingredients include:
Cutch Tree (heartwood) - ayurvedic herb helpful for treating cough and cold.
Chebulic Myrobalan (pericarp) - ayervedic herb that alleviates chronic cough.
Clove (flower bud) - antiseptic, acts as expectorant, also great for a toothache!
Cinnamon (bark) - antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and antiseptic.
Cardamom (fruit) - acts a decongestant.

Pepper (fruit) & Long Pepper (fruit) - great for soothing the throat and calming inflammation. Think cayenne pepper and how it is great for sore throats and gargling. Pepper also has an expectorant property that helps to loosen up phlegm and is also decongestant. Whenever you have congestion/excess mucus try gargling even drinking some cayenne pepper mixed with warm water! It really helps to break up the mucus and bring it out!
Ginger (rhizomes) - anti inflammatory, soothing, acts as an expectorant.

I only wish Koflets were in a honey base rather than a sugar/glucose base, but I'm sure Himalaya has its reasons for choosing sugar over honey.

You can find Koflets here at Amazon and you should be able to find it at your local natural foods and wellness store (I know for sure Natural Grocers has it).
